Hi There,
I am currently waiting to get in to school, I have all of my prereqs done and I have also taken pharmacology. I have all of my general ed classes done, due to the fact I already have a B.A. Do you suggest taking medical terminology?
Thanks!!

i've taught medical terminology classes. only take it if it is a requirement of the nursing program you are applying to. you can learn medical terminology from free online courses. medical terminology classes are only very basic. for nursing classes you are going to need a medical dictionary because the medical terminology in your nursing textbooks is going be way beyond the basic medical terminology taught in those medical terminology classes.

I needed a filler class so I took Medical Terminology this semester. It's taught by the education director at the hospital where I work. She's also a PT instructor at my NS. She said she thought it should be a mandatory pre-req for the nursing program. She said it has helped her with all her education through the years (she just finished up PhD in nursing).

I have never disagreed with Daytonite before so keep that in mind when you read this.
I took a quick medical terminology overview class before nursing school because I thought it might help me in NS. WOW! I am so glad I took that class. We had weekly tests that were timed and we were given 1 minute for 2 questions. That actually helped me retain the information better than if I was just studying on my own.
Since I already know so many root words, I can understand new material more quickly (which probably cuts my study time down at least 20%). It has also helped me during tests.
Whatever you decide, I think it is a great idea to know the information.
