My nursing class is interested in going on a medical mission trip/service learning trip preferably in the United States. We understand that there is a great need for medical care in many places throughout the world however there are needs here in the United States as well. We're an east coast school and feel a particular attachment and desire to serve in Appalachia though we would be willing to work in other places in the United States.
Everything I have found online is either strongly religious, has no medical component (focuses on building houses ect) or only works internationally.
Does anyone have experience with a trip like this? Contact information for a particular company they have worked with?
Any advice/guidance would be amazing!
Thanks in advanced!

Have you looked into Remote Area Medical? I did a mission with them when I was in nursing school. It was rewarding and they were glad to have help.

No matter how you manage it but what important to me is things are necessary to be wise enough and at the same time how we can get to make a mark in something certainly that works surely. So yeah sticking to a good plan and learning through is what that i personally find helpful.
