Med Surg Course

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am writing this post to get some advice. I am currently a junior in my nursing program and am currently taking med surg and mental health. Right now, I am not doing so great in Med surg. My question to everyone is should I drop this course and lose my money or should I stay and be at risk for failing this course altogether. My grades are exam 1-75.51 and exam 2-65.31. We still have exams 3, 4, final, and the kaplan testing that helps earn points to my overall grade. My 3rd test is on the same day of the drop date and I asked for an extension but was denied. So, I am really confused on what I should do.......Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

ceema

At this point if you drop you're likely to not get much money back anyway so comparing that with failing and losing your money is a moot point in my opinion. I suggest sticking with it. You may not fail after all, but if you quit then you are a failure. Stick with it. You don't want to redo all of this.

@ImThatGuy, thank you so much for your opinion. It is really appreciated.

I think you should definitely go for it! Nursing School is hard and really takes the wind out of you sometimes. I have Med Surg this semester as well and it is tough, but we can all get through it. Just stay positive. Try to dedicate a little more time to studying that particular class and try to stay calm about it. I used to freak out over everything being a type-A personality, but I have done better after loosening up. It is still of the utmost importance, but do something relaxing before you take the tests. Scream your head off on the way to school or blast your favorite song and sing to the top of your lungs. (both of these will actually make you feel slightly more relaxed!) Have you talked to your teachers about your exam material? Maybe they can give you a better way to study for the exams. Leave no stone unturned and try everything you can, just don't give up! YOU WILL PASS NURSING SCHOOL JUST BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! :)
