MDS Nursing

Hi, I was recently approached by my current employer to apply for an opening in MDS nursing. I have only been an RN for 2 years and still feel that I am learning a lot on the floor but I know that this opportunity does not come up often. There are the obvious benefits of being salary, working 8-5, no weekends or holidays but I feel like I still have lots to learn on the floor and I really enjoy working with Pts. Any thought? Thanks in advance!

ask yourself what would you like to be doing in 5 yrs from now, 10, 20, 30 yrs from today and pick up skillsets that will help you get there. I as a new nurse worked in 4 jobs in 7 yrs in different specialities figuring what I liked, didn’t like and picked up skills along the way.

questions to think about: Does MDS nurse fit your long term goal? Would you want I go back to school for a higher degree if so will need a job that’s a bit flexible to school clinical hours, etc. there are benefits to working 9-5p And you can pick up per diem work on the weekend too as floor nurse. anyways good luck !
