MCI/ECPI Regionally vs. Nationally Accredited

Published

Hello everyone,

I need some advice from nurses who have a true understanding of how accreditation and licensures work.

I'm currently in Virginia and started looking into ECPI/MCI ADN program. The program has full approved by the Virginia Board of Nurses. They are also accredited with SACSCOC

(Southern Association of College and School Commission). With that I can sit for my NCLEX and if I pass I can get my nursing license.www.sacscoc.org.

ECPI University is an institutional participant in the National Council for

State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA). SARA is an agreement among

member states, districts and territories that establishes comparable national

standards for interstate offering of post-secondary distance education course

and programs. It is intended to make it easier for students to take online

courses offered by post-secondary institutions based in another state. ( this is also listed under there accreditations and approval page)[/COLOR]

My only concern is that I will not be living in the south forever. I plan on moving back to California once my husbands five year navy contract is up. Since MCI is only regionally accredited and not nationally accredited will this effect my ability to transfer my license to a different state?

Once I get my ADN I will be getting my BSN and hopefully my MSN. MCI offers both but I was also looking into getting my BSN online through a different school. Am I able to do a RN to BSN bridge program with a school other than MCI?
