Good question Mitchmich, I was wondering the same thing. I have been going off Nels old post on what we should be reading. I have a question. Have you heard how parking "is" where our classes are; I'm wondering if it's as hard to find a spot to park as the rest of campus??? Has anyone started their modules?? Have a great week.

Hey Pbid!

I started the modules. I have done HIPPA and OSHA. They did take some time. I was the safety mgr. where I worked previously, so OSHA wasn't bad at all. The HIPPA was all new to me, so it took me longer because I would re-listen to some of the slides. I am hoping to do Bloodborne pathogens either today or tomorrow.

I don't know if we can say on here what building our classes are in..but most likely we are in the same ones ;) I never really found parking in that area to be too bad. I think at certain times it is better and some times it is worse. There are a couple angles you can come to that building at also. In addition, I have a pink carry-on sized rolling suitcase (you can't miss me) that I carry my books in and such. This makes any trek through the parking lot easy (except in snow! LOL).

Hey August Starts, quick question. When did you and How did you receive notification to pick up your syllabus? I know the answer is probably starting me in my face right now but I'm unable to find it. :chuckle

I am like the boy scout motto "Be prepared" :D I just figured the notification should be coming up quick?I'm like that old commercial where you see the people waiting outside a store going "open, open, open". I can't wait to start, few more weeks!

We got a little packet in the mail of stuff about 1530 (when to wear uniforms etc) and it said to pick up your sylllabus, I believe it was 2 weeks before classes started. They are keeping us very busy so get ready! Its pretty managable though, I am still working 40 hrs a week, just not sleeping..ever.

Thank you CorazonDeOro!!!!!!!!!! For some reason, I'm terrified that I will miss something of great importance and they will kick me out. But, on my rational side, I know that won't happen, but it's better when I know when to expect something.

Corazon.... Working 40 hours plus Nursing School WOW! Sleep... yeah... what use is it anyway? :chuckle Hope you get a little chance to get some shut eye. I'm glad to hear it somewhat manageable. I hope that once I get into the swing of things and keep my calenders I will be ok.

Ok... so I'm stethoscope shopping! I have no prior experience in the health care field. I want a stethoscope that I can use in nursing school that will help me in my ability to learn heart sounds, lung sounds, etc. I have been reading up on stethoscopes and nursing students on here, and I'm more confused than ever. First, what is this turntable bell? Does MCC allow it? It seems like some schools don't.

So, all you nursing students at MCC... any suggestions? I'm thinking Littman master classic II or the master classic II SE (What does this SE mean?).

I'm probably of no help, but I purchased the Littman Classic2 S.E. I was told this would be a good choice:) I'm sure learning to listen for certain sounds is a skill we can develop over time. Good luck, I hope you get some more concrete information;)

Thanks pbid for the info! I started calling around to these medical supply places and asking their advice. They too said the Littman Classic II SE was the way to go. Of course you can buy a better one, but it seemed that for what we would be using it for and the cost you couldn't go wrong. What was told to me that the Classic SE has that bell and diaphragm part that is more of a traditional way to use it. The Master Classic II had the diaphragm that you have to know how to apply different pressure points to find high and low frequencies. They said that you can learn how to use it, but for the most part, it is easier with the design that has been around the longest. Most said that for a beginner student, who has no experience with heart/lung sounds, etc. it was a good bet. I was surprised they didn't try to talk me into a higher price one.

Soo... I bought the Classic II SE also!!!! In Baby Pink (The Breast Cancer Awareness One). . I'm just excited to have PINK... but now I hear that the light pink gets marked up a lot... ;( Oh and I got a hot pink pen light also! LOL. I do love my pink....:heartbeat

any one who is still shoping for a stethoscope go to stethescope.com they have really really really good prices I got the Cardio III for 180 including my name engraved and in stores the cheapest I could get it was 250. And you get the class packet 2 weeks ahead of time. You go to the office to pick it up. Good luck. I too am working full time, and yes I am losing sleep but not much so YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!:D

Isn't the only required book the Med-Surge book? I think we have all the other ones already.
