Hey guys! I saw previous years have done this, and I thought it would be a cool idea for this year too! Is anyone planning on applying for the Summer III Nursing Internship at Mayo Clinic?? Excited to get to know some of the other people applying!

Hi! Thank you so much for starting this thread! I just put in my application this week. I'm so heckin' excited at the opportunity, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. In the getting to know you area: I'm from TN, I'm really into ER nursing, and I super dig burritos! How about you?

hi!! I was a Summer iii in 2020 & absolutely loved every minute of it! thought I would pay this thread a visit and pay it forward since previous Summer iii's were so helpful in my cohort's thread. let me know if there are any questions about the program and good luck!
hi! ty for reaching out... I have a few questions
1. when did you hear back?
2. was it nice living in the area that Summer? were the interns social with each other?
thanks!

I heard back about making it to the next round in January and final decisions were in mid feburary. the process is different this time around though, so I'm not sure if your timeline will be the same! my friends and I advocated for future Summer iii's to have a larger scope of practice, so they had to make changes to the program this year.
& it was nice living in mn for a year! we planned a lot of weekend trips with each other to go to the cities, chicago for lolla and other fun activities as well! it was easy to meet other people because we all lived in the same building. coming from ca, it was definitely different weather than I was used to but I really enjoyed my time there last Summer!!
thanks so much! in what ways is the process different this time around?

you could probably read more about it in previous threads, but they used to notify the top 100 applicants and let them rank their unit preferences. once those were submitted, they would match you to a unit and notify you of your acceptance. but I believe this time, you had to submit your unit preferences at the time of your initial application.

Yeah they had us rank when we applied.
I've heard mixed things. Do anyone know if they're planning on having interviews this year or just letting us know if we get a position?
I know they haven't had interviews in the past... I kinda wish they did. I rlly wanna know if I got it

I think I remember there being some fine print in the job description that said we'd hear back if we got it the first week of February this year. Since like Boxcat said, it seems like they're skipping notifying the top 100 this year.
