Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency (Az) February 2022

Published

Hey, everyone. I know it's pretty early, but I have had my eye on the Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency program in Arizona for a while. I will be graduating in December and plan on applying to their February 2022 cohort. I have seen other threads from previous cohorts that keep up with the process, information, and support each other along the way.

If you are interested in applying to this program, this thread is for you!

About me: I am from out of state, which is why I am pretty anxious to hear more information on the program. I would love to do critical care. I have not seen the residency program posted on the job board yet, so hopefully, we can keep each other updated.

Good luck to all of you!

Congratulations! Are any of you coming out of state?

I’m coming from out of state as well and I’m in the same boat you’re in with licensure!

Okay. I called the AZ board of nursing and they told me the fingerprint process could take up to 8 weeks. This means that we need to take NCLEX asap and then apply for the AZ licensure by endorsement. I am starting to study and I am hoping I will be able to take it soon.

I got ortho med surg! I verbally accepted the offer, but havent received my official offer in writing. Congratulations everyone! Excited to be working alongside you guys throughout residency ?

Congratulations ? so excited for us and for what’s to come in our future careers! Now just to pass NCLEX, I know we can all do it because we have made it this far!

I don’t think they are sending written offers until the beginning of next week because I verbally accepted mine on Monday & they said they will be getting the official offers out before Christmas!

Those of you living in Arizona, can you please let us know how long it takes you to get your license? When I called the board of nursing they said that the fingerprinting process takes 6-8 weeks. I am hoping it will move faster than that. Congratulations to all! This is so exciting!

Hey! So I submitted my fingerprints on Sep 11 and I wanna say they accepted them just before Halloween. It took 7 weeks and I did them electronically at fed ex here in Arizona but when you’re out of state I do believe you need to send a finger print card in rather than electronic. That was the longest part because everything else was super quick! I submitted my application September 1, and uploaded all the documents and they accepted them by September 20th. I decided to do it early because my school wasn’t being pro active in the process. I’m just now waiting for my degree to be confirmed and should receive my ATT by Dec 20th. I wouldn’t worry about it! Just make sure you do everything this week and keep in contact with the AZ BON they are super responsive, nice & fast!

My plan is to get my GA license and then apply for licensure by endorsement. I submitted everything to the GA board of nursing and I'm just waiting. My plan is to take NCLEX by the end of this month. That should give me time to apply for the AZ license and get the fingerprints process going. It will be tight, but hopefully I will get everything on time. Some of my classmates here in GA have received the ATT an already scheduled NCLEX.

That’s a smart way to do it! Are you able to do the fingerprints now so that they are pending while you are waiting to take NCLEX? The BON works quick here when doing the licensing & stuff I’m sure once you’ve passed your license by endorsement will go through very quickly! Don’t worry ?

I am hoping to receive my ATT quickly as well! I would like to test by the end of the year but I’m not sure if that’s possible considering my school won’t be sending the affidavit to the BON until Dec 20, with the holidays. If not I will be taking the first available testing spot in January that I can get! I would like this to be done so I can relax a little before starting to work full time!

when I had my meeting over the phone regarding the offer, they said we need everything uploaded by Feb 14, at the latest!

I don't know if I can submit an application just to get my fingerprints. Maybe I should call and ask. I could fly to AZ and get them done.

I was told they offer LiveScan if you are physically in AZ and that is much faster than submitting fingerprint cards. @EWKstudent_nurse did you use LiveScan and it still took 7 weeks?

Hello yall! for the people coming from out of state you cannot start on a compact state license or your residence license. Everything needs to be in a week before the Feb 21st otherwise your offer will be rescinded and you cannot transfer to a different start date.

A temporary AZ license will not work either.  Plan well and start your AZ license instead as you can take your test anywhere. It will suck to not be able to start because you are still waiting to get your license from AZ. It is also peak season with holidays.

You can call HR to confirm.

Hey! I am not coming from out of state but I do have a question! I just graduated on Wednesday and am currently waiting on my ATT which I’m sure will come in the next week or 2. I am nervous because there are only 4 testing centers in Arizona and I wanna take it first week of January and I’m worried there won’t be seats at any of the testing centers.

in your post, You said we can take the test anywhere, so if we fly to Nevada and take the exam it will still be an Arizona license even if we test outside the state?

thank you!
