Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency (Az) February 2022

Published

Hey, everyone. I know it's pretty early, but I have had my eye on the Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency program in Arizona for a while. I will be graduating in December and plan on applying to their February 2022 cohort. I have seen other threads from previous cohorts that keep up with the process, information, and support each other along the way.

If you are interested in applying to this program, this thread is for you!

About me: I am from out of state, which is why I am pretty anxious to hear more information on the program. I would love to do critical care. I have not seen the residency program posted on the job board yet, so hopefully, we can keep each other updated.

Good luck to all of you!

Hi guys! I don’t remember the unit number but I am med surg cardiology day shift! I am so nervous knowing I have one try to pass the NCLEX to keep this opportunity!

Do you know anything about 7E? That's what I was offered. My only thing is that I I have worked as a tech in Medsurg, and it's not my preferred unit. Also, I would prefer to work day shift, but this position is for night shift. So hard to make a decision...

Hi,

Congrats on the offer! Did they happen to tell you how long we have to respond to the offer?

Thank you! She didn't. But I told her that I will get back to her tomorrow with a decision.

Does anyone know what the weekend differential is and how many weekends we're required to work?

I just got my official offer…….7E/nights. I’m kinda bummed as MS wasn’t one of the units of interest. I knew from the start I wanted to work for Mayo because it’s a great hospital and I’ve heard so many good things from ppl who work there. However, I’m not sure I would be happy working nights on MS. I have until Thursday to decide ?

I got the same unit and feel the same way as you haha

I’m torn; I really want to work at Mayo but at what cost you know. I guess if we both accept we would be working together and maybe could make it more bearable ??‍♀️

Haha good thinking! I just asked someone that used to work at Banner but now works at Mayo about her experience with the two hospitals. She said that she would take an offer in any unit at Mayo, because it's hard to get into and it's a good place to work at. She is a PCU nurse and said that she floated on 7E and "is not that bad". It is a hard decision.

LOL at “is not that bad”. I know Mayo is excellent and very difficult to get into; that’s what makes the decision so hard. In all honesty, I will prob take the offer bc Mayo is where I really want to be. But I do keep going back and forth, I’m a mess…..LOL

I am a mess too and that's exactly what I'm doing haha. But I am also thinking about accepting the offer and possibly transferring to a different unit in the future. I just don't want to hate my life for who knows how long...

Right……I wonder how long it would be before we could switch; I hope it’s not 2 years. I prob sound like a jerk bc a lot of ppl really want to work at Mayo and I’m over here with an offer and I’m indecisive.

We worked hard to get this degree and we want to make sure we're somewhat happy with our jobs since we spend so much time there. But I think that if we really hate it and can't transfer to a different unit, we can just apply somewhere else. At least we tried. I don't know...
