Mayo Clinic Externship 2016 (Summer III)

The Mayo Clinic Summer III application was just opened, so I figured I would start a thread and see if anyone else is planning to apply? It is open until January 2016, so feel free to hop in and comment anytime!

I am SO nervous. My fiance keeps telling me that I'm going to get it, but that only worries me that I am going to be even more dissapointed if/when I do not get it.

I heard that we get a generic email that we are accepted, and then a packet of more information comes in the mail.

I didn't even know this opportunity existed until I read this thread. After reading up on the program and watching the videos on their website I have to say that it looks amazing. Unfortunately I am in an Accelerated BSN program and have class all summer so this wasn't an option for me but good luck too all of you that applied! This will definitely make you a better nurse all the way around and give you an experience of a lifetime!

Hey Guys!

I am a former Mayo Summer III. I cannot say enough about this program! I can honestly say it changed my life. I guess I missed giving advise for this year's application. I know everything is based on a point system. So many points for essays, GPA, activities, leadership. My college roommate got her acceptance letter and I was devastated because I believed they would only be taking one student from each college. That is definitely not the case! If you are chosen you should live in the housing they provide. Mayo sets you up at a private Christian college. It's a nice little campus and the apartments are pretty big, plus they provide a bus to work. There is hardly no parking at Mayo. I became great friends with my roommates. We even plan yearly vacations to each other's home states. If you have any other questions you can always send me a direct message! Good luck to all. I'm guessing you'll be hearing very soon.

Well, if it isn't today it for sure is Monday. It makes me anxious because I need to let other hospitals know my decision by Monday! Ah kind of freaking out.

I've heard in the past that people can call and ask when they will be sending out emails and the HR has told them!!!
