I'm very nervous for my final semester of nursing. We have 12 credits of nursing alone! Plus I have signed up for a 144 hour preceptorship in CCU. I'm very excited, but equally nervous. What are your schedules looking like for your final semester? How are you guys preparing? I'm trying to enjoy our short holiday break. But the anticipation of the upcoming semester is making me excited/anxious/nervous/and ecstatic to be done! Lol

Our final semester is rumored to be very busy but not especially difficult. I'm not overly anxious about it because I know I'll be fine.
However, I am *terrified* of graduating, because I feel like I don't know nearly enough or am anywhere close to being efficient enough to be handling a patient load on my own as an RN. I'm excited to be done, but I almost don't want school to be over because that's when reality begins. :/

Congrats on getting to the end! I'm graduating in May 2011 and my final semester is going to be chaotic! I have a 30 page research report to write and I've got an Exit HESI to pass or else I can't collect my BSN certificate. I'm not nervous or anxious because nursing school has exhausted those emotions out of me. However, I plan on cutting down on my work hours for this final semester. I want to be able to reflect on all of the sacrifices I've made to make it this far! Good luck to all!

I'm jealous! I had a 32-hour ICU preceptorship last semester that went great, but way too short. My holiday break consists of working as much as I can and reading the 10 chapters of OB assigned over break.
Finished Med/Surg last semester and have OB, Peds, and Mental Health rotations coming up. M/S is by far the hardest course so I am glad it is behind me.
Cannot wait to be done!!...then of course there is the Kaplan and NCLEX and looking for jobs. Miles to go.

I'm not that nervous about next semester....it's AFTER the semester that makes me sweat! Week long NCLEX review class and taking the boards! I can **** myself if I think about it too much...
In April I'll be doing my preceptorship in the ER. I'm scared about NOT being in school anymore.

I am getting more worried everyday - the third semester of our two year program had me the most worried, we went from 56 to 30 people which I saw in earlier semesters, but now that it is over, our last semester has me scared! It will be 3.5 years for a 2 year degree with all of the required classes, and I am nervous, terrified, excited, scared, anxious, you name it. I was told by the some of the students that I talked to ahead of us that nursing IV was busy, but nice because it brought everything together and made it all make sense. I will be happy to be done, but at the same time, it will be weird because I have been a student for so long and wanted to be a nurse even longer. Glad to see I am not alone!
hi addisonlawrence03, the report is for community health nursing (or public health), but other students have told me the final semester whips by quickly!

I guess I'm not so much nervous as anxious to get it over with. We were told that third semester is the hardest and, for me, it was definitely more challenging than the others (but I was also taking biochem and that was kicking my butt). Now going into last semester, I'm looking forward to only having to take my nursing class and being able to concentrate on that and my clinicals. Plus I just found out that I got an awesome clinical instructor so I'm actually kind of excited to get going again!!

I have been having irrational fears of failing just before graduation. I'm an A student, but find clinicals very stressful (I don't like being watched when I do things). The coursework is really heavy this semester, with our three hardest classes, and a 72hr preceptorship. I won't know where I am placed until just before it starts, probably a basic med/surg floor since the instructors all know I'm not an adrenaline junky and ER or ICU isn't a good fit for me. We also have 16 days of clinical over 8 weeks, where we are on a different floor of the hospital every day.
I wish they would let me do hospice, but they don't have preceptors available there.

I'm just excited for now. The extreme nerves will start in a couple of weeks.

:yeah:Congrats on being in your last semester! I am also very nervous too. I begin my precetorship in the next couple of weeks and we have to do 133 hours. What I have been doing to brush up on my skills is taking a EKG class, ACLS and reviewing all my critical care nursing notes along with going over lab values. Hope this all help and again Congrats!! We can all see light at the end of the tunnel and the end is coming near.
