Masters Degree Requirements ????

Published

I was recently told from a highly unreliable source that one of the requirements to getting a Masters degree in Nursing is to go through 2 years of Med School. Is this true or is it another way for this unreliable source to try to put me in a frenzy?

Thank You

That's totally not true. Please look at the individual schools you are considering - good luck.

yikes! I'm glad that wasn't a requirement in my program!! I have an MSN from Michigan State University and the only thing they wanted 2 years of was clinical nursing experience. I also did not have to take the MCAT, only the GRE. hope this helps your case :rotfl:

I'll add to the list of "heck no" responses. Someone is either grossly misinformed or is having a little fun with you. Each MSN program has its own particular requirements, but I have yet to find one that included med school. Even PA's don't go to med school and they practice from the "medical model". Nurses practice from the "nursing model". Hope that helps ya! :)

Nursing and Medicine are two separate profressions. You do not have to go to med school to get a nursing degree of any sort.

Check your "reliable" source. They are dead wrong on this one. :)

I said it was an UNreliable source. I pretty much knew the answer but figured you all would know for sure so thanks so much for helping me to set her straight. She is an idiot who thinks she will be a Dr however has not taken one science couse in her 2.5 years of college

Anyway thanks
