I wrote an email to them about the BSN program on how to get into that program. She said if my current school has RN, I can apply for BSN when I complete that. I thought BSN program has RN...

I am so confused.... I really want to get into BSN program, but I still need to take chemistry, biology, etc etc...

I know I need to take those classes for nursing, but I don't want to take RN.. then go for BSN. My college doesn't even have RN... not sure.. I will check. They have LPN though...

How does it work? Anyone at Umass lowell or know about that school?

From what I've heard about the UMASS schools, they only allow transfers to do the RN to BSN program - meaning you would have an assoc degree or diploma RN first, and then complete a BSN at UMASS.

Supposedly, only students who begin as freshman at UMASS are allowed to progress through the traditional BSN program.

I would look into other 4 year programs that allow a student to transfer into their BSN program without having a RN license already. I'm in my final year of the nursing program at Rhode Island College and was a transfer student, so if you have questions about RIC, feel free to ask.

Why not go for the RN then transfer to Umass? =\

Oh, and She wrote this:

You may certainly apply to UMass Lowell for our nursing degree program,

BSN, but it is highly competitive and requires that a student has done

exceptionally well in all of their previous courses.

PS: so you're saying not to go for the RN in Middlesex community college?

That I must do something else to get into the BSN program?

I never said not to go to the community college first (you said your school only offers LPN?), but it seemed like (from your post) that you wanted to go straight for the BSN. I chose to complete a BSN and did not go to a CC, but that is a personal choice.

Good luck!

Actually, there's a RN in my college. Called

Nursing Associate in Science

Anyhow, I wrote her if there was any other program to complete in order to enter the BSN program. She replied with this:

Hi - Students do not need to have completed a program at all to be

accepted into the BSN program. They must have had either an excellent

record in high school to be accepted directly into the BSN program or an

excellent record in their college course work to be accepted as a

transfer.

Take care,

So I guess I will try to get my excellent record in my college course work to transfer. That means I need to do good in BiO, Chemistry, etc?

I see. When I was looking at 4 year programs a few years ago, UMASS Dartmouth told me that they were only accepting students with a RN license for their BSN program (unless you started there as a freshman, straight out of high school).

Yes, you'll need to do exceptionally well in anatomy, physiology, chem, developmental psych, etc... in order to be accepted to any program. I had mostly A's and high B's in my prereq courses when I was accepted to nursing school in 2008.

Wow nice! That's what I get for my classes in college. I know that once I get into those classes, it will be much harder.

I am willing to study hard since I quit my full-time job for this!!!!! I quit too early because I had to take an important class in the summer. I will be working hard soon for years!!! I want to keep taking classes non-stop, even in the summer. I will have to do student loans once I get into BSN program. I don't mind paying the loans in the futures. I will be making plenty of money once I am working as RN.. then nurse practitioner after that.

PS: I love to study. :)
