Trying to transfer to Umass Dartmouth

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hello,

I'm currently a liberal arts major second year at a small college. I realized I want to do nursing and so many programs are hard to get into. Umass dartmouth seems like the absolute best fit for me but they don't take any transfers and I don't know what to do. I'm so heartbroken about it because I have friends who got in and they did just as well/worse than me in high school so I probably would've gotten in if I were a high school student.

Requirements for transfer applicants

A transfer applicant is a high school graduate or GED recipient who has attempted credits from an accredited college or university (including UMass Dartmouth as a special student or in the Division of Professional and Continuing Education).

The requirements for transfer admission:

  • Official transcripts of all previous college or university courses attempted
  • In addition to the transcripts, a list of all the courses you are currently taking, by course number, title, and credits
  • Official high school transcript, if you apply with fewer than 24 credits completed
  • SATI/ACT scores, if you apply with fewer than 24 credits completed and have been out of high school less than 3 years
  • Photocopies of catalog pages with course descriptions for the work you have completed, to help us evaluate your college/university transcripts properly. Mark the courses you have taken and the college name on each page. Failure to submit this information may result in our not being able to award credit; Massachusetts public institutions are exempt.
  • Completed application and application fee
  • TOEFL scores for international students
  • Visual Arts applicants (excluding Art History): submission of a portfolio
  • Music applicants: an audition

Note: Some programs (such as Biology, Medical Laboratory Science and Psychology) are competitive, so applications are encouraged by February 1.

Requirements - UMass Dartmouth

They accept transfer students however you must apply to the nursing program from scratch. These are highly competitive programs .....especially U Mass Amherst.....and with application to the nursin g programs they can essentially do as they wish. Personally I believe they just want all the money that they can get for their courses so they don't want to give credit for any outside their curriculum.

I called UMASS today and they said that haven't accepted a transfer student in two years, and the year before that they accepted two. I'm so disappointing in this considering I'm almost done with my associates in Science-transfer and really had my heart set on UMASS or Curry, and Curry was even worse at 3 years. Wahhh :'(

Hello, I transferred into Umass Dartmouth 5 years ago through the college now program. See if you qualify for that program
