Hey everyone, the application for was due yesterday, whew! I almost forgot about it.

Did anyone else apply? When can we expect to hear back?

Hi Pianoman223, I was recently accepted to the Direct Entry MSN program (FNP specialty). I have a ton of questions for a current Direct Entry student. I tried contacting current students through the Office of Student Affairs, but still haven't heard back from them. I don't have the capabilities to private message you on allnurses.com (haven't posted 15x!), but please let me know if you would be willing to email or chat.

Hi everyone, congrats to all who have been accepted to the MGH masters program!!

I am currently a junior in college and plan on applying to this program for the Family NP track. Can some of you who have got accepted tell me your backgrounds so I can have an idea of where I stand on applying? I heard that MGH favors those who have been working years after their college years rather than recent college grads from applying.

I go to BU majoring in Health Science with a 3.1 GPA. I have been working/volunteering in and out of hospitals since I was a sophomore in high school and just last year, I landed an internship in a clinic that involved me working directly with patients. I will be taking the GRE this summer--I'm good at standardized test taking.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts or comments would be highly appreciated.

Honestly, MGH is the only program I want to get in--if they reject me first round, I'm probably going to join the PeaceCorps then apply again.

I think you're fine honestly.

I was the 60Th percentile for my GRE 3 years ago. my first 4 years I messed around and had a gpa of 2.3, then transferred and spent 2 years back at home. The gpa there was over 60 hours as was a 3.4, and my grad school gpa was 3.65 in MS of Healthcare Admin. I am published in a chemistry journal and have 2 posters at chemistry conferences and have 2 years experience there. My volunteer experience was close to 500 hours in PT, ER, Med surg, and Camp settings. That being said, I was rejected from 3 of the 6 schools I applied to, and received no academic scholarships from any school. I got into MGH, Regis and am waiting on UIC currently.

I've been following this thread and you guys seem to know a lot about NP and MSN role so maybe you can help me. I live in So Cal and I got into a MEPN program with a role specialty in Clinical Nurse Leader and I got into a Direct entry masters Psych NP program at MGH I so now I am torn, I really want to stay in Cali the tuition is amazing and I will not have to take out loans and the weather but I wonder if being a NP might be a better path for me as far as my career and having more oppotunities. I don't want to start my own clinic I want to be in a more administrative role and be able to move up and be a consultant in various settings and still be able to practice bedside nursing. Advice would be GREAT!! I have till monday to make a decision! Oh I have a Business background.

It's really a tough call since programs like this evaluate your whole package. I got accepted to MGH this year and this was my second time applying to the school. We have a Facebook group for our class and most of the members look to be current college seniors so I would definitely give it a shot next year. If you don't get in, please don't give up since there are many ways to improve your resume

I first applied to MGH when I was a senior in college but I didn't get in. I majored in biology and my GPA was similar to yours. I was pretty active with several volunteer organizations, but none were healthcare related. I had a great internship at an Army research lab, but again it wasn't healthcare related. My GRE scores were nothing special either.

After college, I went on to do a one-year Master's in Neuroscience at Brandeis. If you get a Master's degree, MGHIHP will waive your GPA requirement. I have also had research assistant jobs at Brigham and Women's and MGH.

Hi everyone!

Any current students think its worth it to buy an iPad? I have a new Mac laptop and iPhone but not iPad. I get a 50% discount from my current employer (which I will be leaving when school starts) so just trying to see if it is worth it.

No, there is no interview process at MGH IHP.

One of my friends who is a nurse now uses her iPad mini as a reference when need be. She likes using it, but I don't know if they will let us use them during clinicals, etc...
