Specializes in TICU, cardiac- stepdown.

Hi I have been a nurse for 3 years all of which have been working in a cardiac step-down. In May I began working in a TICU I am looking to find a job in a Boston hospital but looking for where staff is HAPPY, where education is encouraged & where the pay is worth communting to I have about an hour or more of a commute. I am looking to going into the TICU or an ED. Any suggestions?

Brigham pays the highest in Boston, followed by BMC. Childrens and Beth Israel start at $26.50/hr. I don't know about MGH, but I hear they don't pay as much as B&W.

What is TICU? MGH starts new grads at $27.75, I'm not sure about with 3 years experience. The pay is a little less than other hospitals, but they are not union where others like B&W are. The benefits are good also. Many nurses there are happy because of the scheduling flexibility and being able to enjoy life outside of work. Education is definately encouraged. There are many nurses taking classes towards masters degrees, etc. There are many in-hospital developmental classes and CEUs offered as well. There are many good hospitals in Boston. Good luck in your search!

Thanks! TICU stands for trauma ICU. I would love to do med flight nursing so I think that staying in an ICU is my best option for the present time and get more experience prior to going to an ED. I just want to be somewhere (Level 1) to get the experience needed, teaching hospital, and the most important is that education is encouraged by not only administration but by fellow nurses. Where I am right now it's not like that and it makes it a not so great place to be but I do see great patients. I am looking doing a lot of reasearch before I apply to another job thats why U joined this forum for some support & I am getting it.:)

I do not know about pay or anything like that but I am a patient at Childrens and the staff is happy there from what I have heard. I talk to alot of my nurses and stuff and they love working there.
