Anyone heard of Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences? I'm considering their accelerated BSN program but I didn't know if anyone knows their reputation or if anyone has graduated from the program? I appreciate this!:)

Hi Christine!!

Should I go for a PCA position with a floating pool, some of them specify a wing/floor? Does that mean I am rotated to all the floors if I'm in a pool?

I am worried, because most of them say at least 3 years experience; would they even consider me even if I'm a nursing student?

Thanks again,

I think if you were to go into the float pool (pick either University Campus or Memorial Campus to see the most activity going on) that would be the best idea because you would be seeing most units in the hospital & could see which specialty you like best. When I went into the float pool I only had 10 months experience as a PCA, but I was also a nursing student so if you say that it will definitely help. Everyone really prefers hiring nursing students because of the possibility of working there as a nurse once you graduate. I worked for 10 months on an oncology floor (Memorial) and then worked for 2 years in the float pool (also Memorial) & I loved it (I did every saturday) because I went to all the med-surg floors & they each were different-some were ortho, gastric surgery telemetry,etc..and I also got to go to the ICU and ER as well. I wouldn't go to St. vincents because it's a much smaller hospital and you may not see as much. You'll experience more at the Memorial or Univ. campuses. I did several clinicals at the Univ. campus, and overall I liked Memorial better-but i''m biased cuz that's where I work now! :) I think you'll still get hired without all the experience because you're a student, which is a plus. Good luck. Let me know how it goes. :)

I graduated from a Community College and 2 of my instructors left there to go to MCPHA to help build up the Nursing program. I still keep in touch with them and haven't heard any complaints!

Good Luck!
