Any Quincy college graduates

Good day all! I am going to start my ADN progrm next January at Quincy College, and would love to hear from any Quincy College graduate! I would like to know how you would rate the program. Thanks for your time!

I graduated 1995.The program( from what I see of it today),has changed dramatically.You can email me if you like. I would rather not post my issues with the program on a board. The students come thru my hospital.So i have alot of knowledge regarding the instructors and the program. When I was a student, it was a 3 year.(1year prereqs,2yearlecture clinical) It was a great ,tough program.The instructors were brilliant ,caring,fair and knowledgable in there clinical.(we even had a psyche patient for an instructor,(who was paranoid and removed form lecture during our psyche rotation,so there).I rotated thru MGH,NeMc,B&W.My lectures and clinicals coincided(they dont today). hi! I, too will be hopefully accepted to the January 2005 program (RN). I am now finishing up my pre-req's. I have been curious about how the program stands up for graduates. I chose this program, mainly for the flexibility of classes at night, having 3 kids and all. It's working out great! My only concern, has been the conflict about the Surgical Tech program, with those 2 graduates... I really hope it does not reflect on the RN programs, or that we don't get negative response from it all. That was a real bummer and disappointment to hear about.

I was wondering how well prepared graduates felt from their program, and if they are now working and encounter Quincy College students, how they are perceived in the workplace during their clinicals? (maybe that's tough to say, depends on the person, I would think)

I graduated from the LPN program at Quincy College in 1993. It was an awesome program with great instructors. I encountered students from other schools during clinicals and we compared notes. Quincy kept up with them and excelled in many areas. I have no idea of the RN program though.

I was planning on going on to the LPN bridge to RN program and was applying to Quincy. I then got the good news that I was pregnant with my son, and school got put on hold.

I recently graduated from the part time program. I feel that I received a good education...despite myself! :chuckle It is not an easy program. It is very intense.

I worked 32hrs/week-Mon-Fri, so there were many time that I felt like this..:crying2:

I have a terrific husband that gave me alot of support.

I did take a review course, and studied for the boards, and passed the first time. (They say that Quincy College has a 95% pass rate for the boards.)

I am still in my preceptorship at a local hospital, and so far it's great!

BTW, I am 48 years old! If I can do it, anyone can.

All in all, yes, I did like the program.

I thought Iwould have preferred the 1st semester clinicals to have been in a long-term care facility to have gotten more "hands-on" experience, like bed baths, dressings, etc. because I had never had that type of experience before, but I found out that you learn quickly. And you and your classmates will develop a working relationship, as you learn together, and learn to help each other.

During the second semester, I was concerned that we did not have a separate Pharmacology course (like other schools), but I found that having the meds interwoven into the classes was easier for me to learn because I had something concrete to associate them with.

Since you are starting in January, I'm assuming you are in the part-time program. It is definitely do-able. I think, like any school, there are pluses and minuses. If this is what you really want to do, and this is where you think God wants you to be, then any minuses will not be an issue.

Hi!

I just graduated two weeks ago! We have a wonderful, albeit tough nursing progam at Quincy College.

I did the part-time program Fenway first year and the full-time program Quincy second year.

I was a student rep and worked closely with faculty and staff. They are so committed to the students and the program...it was a great experience.

We also have one of the highest RN pass rates in the state.

I go to John Wood Community College and do clinicals at Blessing maybe I will see you
