Meg.

are you looking to buy a desk? You might want to check craigslist. I just bought a new desk and wish I had checked there first. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. I have a smallish computer desk w/hutch, blonde colored veneer. 36 3/4" wide, 57 1/2" tall, 23 1/2" deep. Has pull out for key board, one drawer, slots for CDs, open area below drawer either for computer, or storage. In good shape, I just have needed a bit bigger one for a long time and school gave me the push to get one.

Did you get your uniforms yet?

Hi, I have my little study area all set up, I've been ordering the books a few each week. I started doing the math, its my worse subject also. I've been making flashcards on the A&P chapters, I havent done the ATI yet. Looking forward to meeting everyone in Aug. :) Linda

Hi Linda,

How are you doing with the Math? Are you going chapter by chapter? I have been, I'm up to Chapter 7, 16 still to go and I know they aren't going to be getting easier!!!! Do we need to have the whole book done by start of school? Seems I remember it being said that a math test will be given the 1st wk, then what you didn't get a 100% on you start working with the tutor and by the end of the 1st term we have to have 100% on all the math....do I remember that correctly? The book gives two ways of doing the math, good ole paper & pencil or the use of a calculator and to use one or the other through out. I also seem to remember that it was said that we would be tested on the computer with use of calculator...so that is the way I have been doing the math. How about you? Can ya tell that I'm really STRESSED about the math!!!!!!!!!!!! I just don't want to flunk out because of the math...I'll be soooo mad at myself for letting this stupid math phobia do me in. Sure wish I had MADE myself do math long before now.

A&P, need 1st 3 chapters read by start of school....right? I'm still on chapter 1, I've done some of the workbook and some of the CD. I've been concentrating more on the math:rolleyes:

Well, I've rambled long enough.

Hi Donna, So far I'm doing okay in the math I am up to chap 3 I just dislike it so much I wish I would just love it. With a&p I am on chap 2, I'm taking this course slow I want to really know it, the teacher at orientation seemed tough. I am still working full time and have 3 children so until my last of day of work (July 23rd Yeah) I don't have as much time as I would like to. I look at the stack of books that I have so far (11) and start to get worried about the next ten months, that is soooo much to learn in a short time. After I freak out I remind myself to just take one book, one chapter at a time and put the rest out of sight LOL :) I've been trying to some of the math the old fashion way so that if I don't have a calculator I will still know what to do, but when I get stuck I quickly pull out the calculator :) Don't worry to much about the math, I was until I found out if you don't get 100 you need to come 1hr early once or twice a week for math study group with a tutor until you know and the tutor feels you will pass the test. They really want everyone to pass and have put up lots of safety nets to help everyone along the way. I hope I pass the math test the first time I think that will be my first 100 on a math test!

well now I'm rambling

Hi Donna, so after writing to you I thought I would go and work on my math, chapter 3 I used a calculator the whole time and was sooo glad that it said I could. I would not want to work all that out the old fashion way !

Just thought I would share after opening my mouth and saying I wasn't using my calculator, well I am now! - Linda

I was wondering if we have lockers to store our books/stuff. I'm leaning towards having a different 3 ring notebook for each class, in hopes that I won't have to carry a heavy notebook all day. My understanding is that we will be in only one classroom, so no long walks from class to class. I haven't got any helpful suggestions on book bags, haven't figured that out myself.

Hello Christine,

Glad you decided to post, I am hoping more students will. Your just about finished with the requirements???!!! WOW! I've done a little of everything, completed none of it so far. Started with the Chapter 2, suffixes, prefixes...then decided maybe I should start working on the math since that is my worst fear/subject. Did 6 chapters and decided maybe, I better start looking at the A& P on Chapter 2, taking lots of notes and doing the workbook. Can ya tell I haven't been in school for a really long time....I'm all over the place.

I haven't sewn the patches on our shirt/coat sleeves yet, I don't see where it says which sleeve...anyone know? I'm going to guess....Left!

I've signed up for the day CPR class, on the 27th I believe, any one else taking it then?

The patches have to be on your left sleeve 2 inches from the top! I dont think we get lockers so i bought a good size backpack with wheels, i know its not the most fashionable but id rather that then break my back.. The one I bought they have at Target for 50$ its a jansport. I still have to do my CPR I should probably sign up for that soon!!

Hey ladies!

So I pulled all my stuff out again today--I've got all the work done but no where near memorized the terms on all those worksheets...I'm getting nervous!

I feel like it's Christmas over here...I've got textbooks coming in like everyday, I still have 6 to order!

I'm taking my CPR class tomorrow night, anyone else?

Do you guys work or stay home or what? I'm home with 3 little ones so I'm getting anxious about all that too....oh man, less than a month until we start this journey together! Can't wait to meet and get to know each other real well over the next year! :)

How was CPR? I did my class already, not my first class so more like a review. I am not done with all the work, I've done most of it but was afraid if I did all the Structure & Function to far in advance, I'd forget it all by start of class. I've been concentrating more on the math as that is my weakest subject. I am almost done with the math book, on Chapter 19. Now, just because I've gone through all the chapters doesn't mean I'm a whiz at it at all. Still need plenty of practice....do we need to have all those formulas memorized? I'm a gonner if we do...... that will take a lot more practice to get them all down without looking back at my notes or the book. UGH!

Maybe we should put up a check list of everything that needs to be done, I'm afraid I'm going to forget something.

1.1st 3 chapters of Struction & Function

2.Worksheets on prefixes/suffixes, etc....all came stapled together

3.What flash cards are we suppose to make?

4. Student Nurse handbook, Chapters 1-6

5. ATI Online Tests-Maybe 4 or 5 tests...how to study, ESL student, etc... can't find the sheet right now for exact names.

Have I forgotten anything?

I quit my job, so am now home during the day, trying to get life in order before school starts, studying, and vacation for 5 days, starting this Sat. I have all my 1st semester books but haven't ordered beyond that. Have to sew patches on still and get all white shoes.

Yes, I am nervous too, wish it would just start and get this dreaded anticipation over with.

Is anyone interested in getting together before school starts to go over anything or just talk about our anxieties...hahahaa!:uhoh3:

Great to hear from you! CPR went well..we finished early!

I too still have to sew on the patches and get the shoes. Did you get the male shirts? People were talking about that at my CPR class and now I'm not sure if I should try to switch them...

Are you on facebook?...I check that daily if you want to connect over there!

I need to review the S&F again soon...I did all the work but no where near memorized all the terms, did make flashcards for them though!

Sounds like you have everything under control, at least for now anyways ;-) Enjoy your vacation--the calm before the storm!
