Hello,
I am applying to nurse practitioner programs and trying to find out the salary and benefits being offered in this part of the country (Massachusetts), especially for psychiatric nurse practitioners. I have looked on Monster and Indeed.com, but most job postings that I see don't give the actual salary information. Any information you can give on salary, benefits, flexibility with schedules, etc. will be appreciated!

look at the Pearson report for salaries in all 50 states. I don't know the exact address, but you can google it.

I am a psych np and make $40 an hour , i work part time
Bonosgrrl, thank you for the reply. I'm a little surprised, though - $40 an hour seems more in line with RN salary, not NP salary (or so I thought?) While there are certainly other important things for me to consider, I'm not sure I could spend the time and money necessary to earn an NP degree for $40 an hour. Do you happen to know if this is pretty standard pay in MA? Thank you!
I think it is pretty standard, I am not in the city or near Boston, so maybe in Boston it would be higher, I don't know.
but I think its pretty comparable,
I only work part time, don't take any health insurance, my schedule is flexible, ( I make it ), and they pay my malpractice insurance and for ceu's
I think you will find you will not be getting a huge pay increase when you move to the NP role. maybe even a decrease depending on where you work and how long you have been there.
one of my good friends is an RN, and is at the top of the pay scale where she works, she has been there over 20 years i think and she makes $50 an hour :)
Thanks again for replying - the fact that you get to make your own schedule is huge for me - I am a stay-home mother with young kids and would love to be able to still be there for there for special things at school, activities etc. for them. Do you know if being able to make your own schedule is something that is pretty common in this field? I have no nursing background, so I'm really just trying to figure out what how things work. Thanks!
