Massachusetts Good Moral Compliance Review

Published

Hello! Question for those who were under GMC review while applying for their initial licensure in 2021 or 2022: how long did it take the Massachusetts BON to get back to you once your documents were received? Were you able to sign up for the NCLEX before your GMC application was approved?

I'm a little nervous because I received a job offer scheduled to start Mid-August and don't know if I'll be licensed before that date...I'd be grateful if anyone can share their experience as the BON has not been very good at responding. Thank you so much!

Massachusetts is horrible. I had to fill out my CORI background check twice. I had to respond about gaps in employment twice. This time around they are asking about other mistakes I made. I am not responding. I will go ahead with Ohio. Ohio took 2 months to get my license to be. Here we are in Sept (I applied Oct 2021) and still no license from Massachusetts. I'm moving on. They are terribly slow and redundant.

The BON needed me to resend court documents because the first was "insufficient" and and I had to explain a gap in my resume. After that, I was approved and got my ATT a week later. I'm working as a nurse now!

Hi, just wondering if you sent your GMC documentation when you applied? Or did you have to wait until they emailed and asked for the paperwork?

Hey guys, I am just getting started with my GMC evaluation, I have a misdemeanor from 20 years ago.  I don't want to wait for them to send me the info about what documents they need, I want to get the ball rolling...  I got a notarized cori form, wrote an explanation

-what should I ask the court to send them?  Other than the docket?

-what do I need for references?

-someone said a letter from my nursing school as well?

Please advise, I already have a job, need to take NCLEX asap.  Thank you ❤️❤️❤️

Hope everyone is doing well.

Prepare for a long wait. In the meantime,  get a letter (reference) from a current employer. Get your case documents ready.

Do you know how long it takes for a hearing? I know they have meetings once a month and didn't hear anything for Octobers meeting which is today ?

Thank you for responding ladies!

I ended up finding out what I needed to submit and submitted everything, now just praying there aren't any discrepancies in my paperwork, and they evaluate me asap.  Does anyone know what the process is, does everyone have to wait for a hearing/the monthly meeting or do you think they approve some people throughout the month if it is something minor?

Nurse Js have you tried emailing the GMC Liaison and asking for an update?

They just said they have to find out when the hearing will be and let me know all the details about how to attend. I emailed again asking how long is that process but they did not respond LOL He's usually quick with his responses so I think he just doesn't know how to answer LOL

I went back and forth for a week or two with the paperwork. Make sure everything is sent from the court directly. I also had to edit in a couple things to my letter and resume.

And I think for minor charges they just approve it and you get your ATT. They said that because of my charges they need to have a hearing. I hope they just want to see me and make sure I'm "rehabilitated"

It's frustrating that we can't call to speak with anyone.  The liaison is either quick to respond or does not respond at all..

Today, no response LOL- so many hurdles in nursing school, this is our last one!  We will get there, eventually...
