Marymount University Students?

Published

Hi, I am applying to several schools in the DC area and was wondering if anyone knows how common older (upper 30's) male nursing students are in the accelerated BSN program at MU, which a long time ago was an all female school. I am definitely interested in whether it was a good experience or not. Thanks.

I am currently a male student attending MU accelerated program. I just started my third sem anticipating graduation May 09 and overally it is a really tough program. I have had nothing but good experiences with my female counterparts althoough there isnt alot of male students in my class. I do have older women late 30s to 40s in my class. Of the 5 guys including myself all of us are in our early to late 20s. Being in your upper 30s shouldn't be a problem at all cuz there will always be a wide spectrum of age groups and i guarantee u, u will probably not going to be the oldest if you deside to attend MU.

I was admitted this fall for the Spring 2010 Accelerated 2nd degree BSN program at Marymount. And I'm 57 years old.

I also was accepted by Georgetown for the same program. On my interview day, there were about 40 of us in the group, and I'd say at least 5 of us were age 35 or older.

Best of luck.

Currently enrolled in first semester, there are about 7 males age range early to mid 20s , early and late 30s and I think someone in their early 40s. Being male is not an issue, financial aid for second degree nursing students at Marymount is a BIG problem. There just does not seem to be any for second degree nursing students. You cant even get a HRSA Nursing Student Loan at Marymount the school is unable to participate because of high default rates.
