Can new grads work in hospice?

  1. I'm a new graduate nurse, already licensed in MD. Can I work straight out of school in a hospice setting, with no prior experience?

    Thanks for feedback!

My understanding is that you need at least a year of experience to work in hospice.

I think you should find the hospice you want to work at and call the HR. You never know with the specific institution.

I graduated in May and moved to Baltimore right after. I got a job in an inpatient hospice right after I got my license. So you can work in hospice right after you're done with school, I think you just have to find the right facility. I'm loving my job so far but inpatient offers a lot of support that you don't get in home care hospice where I believe you need the experience first.
