how many nurses have two jobs?

Published

Just want to. Know if I'm the only one out there working an 80 hour work week.

I am signed up with six agencies but only one bothers to give me any work and I have been drawing unemployment out of desperation. Oh, the days of 80 hour workweeks when I could pay my bills and take care of my family!

i am but its bec. I dont earn that much with my other job

It can get tiresome but the joy of having two paychecks!

I don't make enough on one job either.

It is really nice if you can get that kind of hours by working overtime with one agency that pays overtime! Now there is some serious bill paying!

I have a full-time job, a per diem job (that I work every Saturday morning), I'm a full-time student and I have a toddler.

Your right, that's some serious bill paying but afetr the tax man finishes butchering it,it comes to less then if I had got two seperate ones. Also it acts as a buffer for me when my client is in the hospital or gets discharged.

I have two jobs - one nursing, one teaching. I am trying to pay off student loans and the extra money helps, and I love my teaching job and didn't want to leave it. I also homeschool my kids.

I technically have four. One full time, 2 prn LTCs, and one per diem with an agency. Upon hearing this people freak out and think I have a death wish, guess the general public doesn't get the concept of PRN. Some weeks I get 36 hours, some weeks 92 hours. Thank the lord above for TIVO!

My new client is now in the hospital so I got to work a fill in shift yesterday and nothing is lined up for next week, so another week of unemployment for me. My daughter tells me I should say goodbye to the job uncertainty of home health and get a real job in a nursing home. She has a point there, except I don't fit the demographic for those who are able to find work in LTC facilities in my area.

i have 1 fulltime icu job regular 84hrs a pay period, 2 prn and part time/prn jobs on the side that i ussually get about 36hrs per pay period from. whats really cool is that i basically get a paycheck every wk, one wk from my fulltime job and the next wk a paystub from my parttime gigs.

Yup. I'm right there with you working the 80 hr work weeks. Full time nights at a hospital, Full time days 9-5 during the week at a clinic. Sucks, but I have bills to pay and a family to support. I'm grateful to have work. I know the job market is tight.
