    I am 45 but I don't feel old.

I recently applied for a position on a CPCU floor in the hospital where I work.

Having finished MedSurg I, I can work as a tech now, making a bit more per hour and with permission to perform more nursing skills. I found myself wondering, for the first time, really, if I might end up not getting this job because of my age.

There weren't but three applicants and only the two internals are being seriously considered (myself and another), but if the other person is twenty-five, I wonder if I'll get the nod.

This hospital has a reputation for being very male-friendly in nurse hiring, so I guess we'll see, but it's just odd to even be thinking this...lol

I'm 42 and will be starting an LPN program this fall, unless I get bumped up to RN. I only have 5-6 students ahead of me. If I don't move up then I will transition next year to RN. This will be a career change for me as I have been with my current employer for 15 years.

    Good luck all!

51 years old here. Did MA program, then decided to go for RN. Used be an electrical contractor. Shocking huh! Only thing I don,t like is after the pre reqs have to be on waiting list to get in the program. This is calif mind you. Maybe I should move where I don,t have to wait. I do,nt want to need a nurse myself by the time I get in the program.
