I'm in an 18month nursing program. Just finishing first 9months...have about a month off, then going back for 2nd 9months. Here's my problem...I don't have the money for second half of the program. I attend a private vo-tech school that does not accept financial aid (including stafford student loans).
I don't know how to get the money for school....I need $3000 before I start the second half! What can I do? I won't qualify for a personal loan, because I don't have a job...and can't work during second half either because of the hours I am in school/clinicals.
How can I get the $3000????? Please help. I don't want to have come this far, and not be able to continue on because of money.

Wow, that sucks. Have you tried applying for a private loan and having someone (ie parent) with good credit co-sign for you? Does your school have a payment plan option so you could pay a little bit each moth?

Stafford loans that at subsidized usually don't require students to have credit. Also try filling out fafsa, that will help you get some finanical aid. Good luck ! You are not alone, I'm trying to figure out how to get my 760 dollar summer class paid for by next month !
as i said in my original post...i go to a private school that does not accept financial aid including stafford loans.
But she said in the OP that FAFSA isn't accepted at her school, so not chance for federal loans.....

can you transfer your classes to a cheaper community college?
that is the downside to those vo tech programs, cost.
an lpn program at a community college is around 3,000$, total.
i am paying 5,678 total for my rn.

Wow, that's a really good price, I'll be lucky to be done having only spent $30,000 at a state university for bsn.
Op, got any friends/family you can borrow from, yard sales, credit cards.
Do you have to pay before you register, if not, they normally wont kick you from classes you are already in with an unpaid bill, just put a hold on your account so you can't register for anymore.

Apply for a Chase private student loan--you do not have to be working! Good luck!

Have you spoken to your advisor to see what s/he suggests? I'm sure you are not the first student to encounter this problem. Any chance you can take a break and finish the 2 portion at a later date while you work and save up the $3000? Some schools also allow payment plans, which would still require you to work, but where there's a will, there's a way.

Why are you waiting until the last minute to figure this out?? Sell stuff, go through and sell whatever you can, on your month off try to get a job delivering pizzas, babysitting, whatever you can do. Apply for a few credit cards, you would be amazed at what they approve, although I am not a fan of recommending to get CC but you gotta do what you gotta do. Capital One has been good to me. Try and do some odd jobs, mow lawns, walk dogs, pick up dog poop. Advertise on craigslist, utilize your month off.
3000 dollars is totally doable to come up with if you are willing to bust butt, put your pride aside to take on jobs you normally wouldn't want to and just start going at it.

1. are there any work/study options at your school??
2. are there any options at local hospitals where you could promise to work for them for xx amount of time after graduation in exchange for your tuition?
3. what can you sell?? ebay is always an option if you have anything someone might want. yardsales can bring in some money like stated above.
4. aluminum has gone down in price, but we got a few hundred when we cleaned out our barn and took our soda cans and sold them to the metal place down the road.
5. have you rolled all the change in the house? i got about $400 around christmas doing that.
Great news! I just found out today that I will be the recipient of two of the scholarships that my school gives out! They give 7 scholarships each year based on academic standing, clinical success, and overall work/study ethics. Well, I'm receiving one for $1000 and one for $500....so there's $1500 for school next semester (half of what I needed).
Also, I'm taking my Saturday's to pull together anything and everything that I can for a yardsale that I plan to have once the semester ends...and I am looking for a few houses to clean throughout the summer...AND, my husband and son are going to be mowing lawns this summer to give my son (age 13) an opportunity to earn money...they plan to split the earnings in 1/2...and guess who gets my husbands 1/2....ME...for school! Soooo...I think I will now have all of my expenses covered to finish nursing school.
Anyway, I am so totally siked about being selected to receive the scholarships!!! That just blew me away!
Thanks you guys & gals for all the advise!
