I was wondering if there were any 8As here who are stationed at Madigan? I will be at Ft Lewis in a couple of weeks and would love the chance for a tour of the critical care units.

Thanks in advance! =)

Lahlee:

I read your e-mail. I wish I could help you. I just TDY-return from MAMC in November, beautiful (Tacoma and Fort Lewis area)

There are 2 ICU's: ICU -East and ICU - West, each ~ 10 beds. Majority of RN's that work there are civilian, but you will find that in most ARMY MEDCENS nowadays

Good Luck and I hope that someone on this forum will have more concrete information for you! Have "fun" with your PCS

lahlee, I've toured Madigan's ICU - I don't have a POC for you.. but I can say that madigan itself is quite nice. FLWA is great.. and their are some awesome surrounding areas. I don't see anything particularly different about their ICU from lets say a standard ICU aside from a great view from the tower of the mountains :) You can go to FLWA and get a pass.. then go to the madigan to see when the next tour is... you will likely get a general tour of facilities but offline you could try and talk with host/hostess of tour and inquire about getting a peak of ICU or a POC to talk with or just try finding a nurse 2lt/1lt/cpt in the dining hall and chatting it up - social engineering...
