Hey everyone,
I've been out of school for about a year and a half. I graduated in 2006 and since then i've been going to school off and on..The first several years I didn't really care about school and I didn't make the best grades. Right now I have a gpa of 2.45. I'm a smart person and I know i'm capable of doing way better than that! But I was wondering should I leave that class alone or should I go ahead and retake it? I was thinking about just taking some easier classes to bring up my gpa this coming August because i'm pregnant with my third baby and I know how A&P is you have to STUDY! Has anyone got into the nursing program with any c's in their pre-reqs like one of the A&P classes?

if you can afford it, take it again. certain schools think anything less than a B in A&P1 or 2 is a HUGE no-no. BUT, I got a C in A&P 2 and an A in A&P 1 and got still got into nursing school. it really depends on the school though. PUBLIC school? FORGET ABOUT IT! Private school, you may squeak by with a C. id research admissions standards at different schools and go from there. you need AT LEAST a 3.0 to even have a fraction of a fighting chance at many schools public or private. GOOD LUCK!

Yes, you should re-take it. Like the previous post said, depending on the school, most schools prefer a higher grade to get in the nursing program.

I'd retake it again. Oh congrats on your 3rd child, and best wishes.

I was in a similar situation with my grades/GPA minus the babies :) I went to several schools and had GPA's lower than 2.5. I even got an F in a remedial English/Reading class. I took several classes over again with A's the second time around. I know that nursing programs really look at corerequisites like A and P and micro so I made sure to get an A in them. Actually, I got an A in all classes including general courses such as sociology and english. However, in microbiology I got a B. I was feeling lazy and it was the last of the corerequisites. My other classes were transfers so my GPA was based off the classes I took at my previous college. I applied to the nursing program with a 3.9 GPA. I still had to submit my transcripts from the other schools and still got in! I had a talk with othe admissions counselors from other nursing schools and they praised my high acheivements.
Believe me, you really are a smart student. It is all about what you put into it, your approach to studying, and your mentallity about reaching your goals. It all depends on the nursing school you are trying to enter. Maybe talk with an admissions counselor about your GPA and individual grades and see what they suggest. Also, many programs are putting restrictions on repeating courses, time frame in which courses were completed, etc. Get all the information you can so you make decisions for you.

You really need to retake it. Most schools looks specifically at your A&P grades and you'd be doing yourself a giant disservice to leave it like that. A&P is a lot of work, but so is nursing school! Might as well get used to it :)
Congrats on the little one on the way!
