LVN School Options in So-Cal

Published

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone had any input on my situation... I live in So-Cal (high desert to be exact). I have a BA in Programming/Web Design but I am wanting to get into Nursing. I want to go through an LVN program and then branch over, but as I am looking into my options, it seems that I cannot get the funding for loans because I already have a BA? Does this sound right? I am still looking into other schools, but so far, 4D college told me it would be about $1000 a month (out of pocket) for me to go to their school. I am wondering if my BA is going to ruin my chances of going to any school? I am not looking for grants or any type of free money, but I will need student loans to go to school anywhere.

My second reason for this post is to see if anyone has any suggestions on schools in southern cali. Whether it's LVN to RN or just RN or BSN. I do work full time and will be doing so for a while so I have to take that into consideration.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Have you tried looking into any programs offered by the community colleges in your area? Some, not all, JC's offer a LVN program. Also, check into the ROP (regional occupational programs). Programs offered through these two avenues are consideribly less expensive and you will not need to take out a loan (but you still might qualify for a Pell grant).
