Does anyone know the current salary range for lvn's in Dallas/Fort Worth? Can any lvn's tell me how the job market is?

My goal is RN but I am considering lvn-rn due to the competitiveness of nursing programs. Any help is appreciated!!

Long term care - $18 to $25 hourly. The wages in the area have been stagnant for about 6 years. I started at $18.50 hourly as a new LVN in back in 2006. In 2014, many new grads are still starting at $18 to $19 per hour.

The LVN job market has been tight since about 2009. When the economy melted down in 2008, many displaced workers enrolled in fast track LVN programs with the hope of switching careers. Now there are more LVNs than there are available jobs in the area.

Thanks for your input!!

I got accepted to a LVN program at a community college and graduate in December, and the bridge program starts next May.

Being a lvn grad looking for work, do you think it will help having medical experience?? I was a medical assistant for a year and a PCT going on 3 years, working in both clinics and hospitals.

I think your previous healthcare experience will be very valuable, especially if you can spin some connections and networking off of it.
