LVN to RN bridge programs in Texas

Most LVN's I know who bridge to RN do so through distance education Excelsior, work fulltime, and use their facility's education benefit to offset the cost. Works great for them and their families. :)

My Aunt went through El Centro and had a good experience. Good luck to you! I don't know much about other programs but i bet someone here will.

There is a program at Tyler Junior College that has been sucessful for many years. Check with them it is called LVN-ADN transition.

I went to a wonderful program at Austin Community College and recommend it to anyone. The instructors are great. Like all programs, it isn't a shoe-in to get there but I got in the first year I applied. Good luck.

Anyone know of any bridge programs in Texas (preferrably north Texas)? I know about El Centro but worry about the waiting time for them. I'm looking for a bigger program (perhaps) or one with a better chance of getting in the first time or 2.

I went to a wonderful program at Austin Community College and recommend it to anyone. The instructors are great. Like all programs, it isn't a shoe-in to get there but I got in the first year I applied. Good luck.

Tarrant County College got rid of there bridge program . Hill College cancelled theirs after only 2 years so all that's left here in N Texas is Weatherford College ,El Centro and Navarro. Hope that helps

I too am an LVN looking for an RN bridge program. I have looked at Rue and some colleges. I am in South Texas and I know there are programs through SAC, ACC and UTHSC. You might look into UT at Tyler, they also have an LVN to BSN program along with an ADN program. Unfortunately that one is too far away for me. Anyone have any suggestions on Online vs Classroom programs?

Rue is an adjunct not a college...they provide workbooks and study guides to assist you in passing courses through Excelsior college or ACT CLEP (for a fee $300 per course or so) You also have to pay the college course fees so it gets expensive.

You don't need to use RUE or the like.... (there are several other businesses like Rue who advertise they can get you through faster and easier) Study guides are available through Excelsior directly. I know several LVN's who got their RN's this way through Excelsior.(used to be Regents College) Look into it and good luck. Their employers paid for most of their expenses...so look into that too. :)
