LVN programs at night in houston area

Published

I wanted to know if anyone knew of a LVN program that is in the Houston area that offers classes at night??? I work fulltime and really don't want to have to quit my job not to mention I can't afford to with my husband beening laid off, to attend school. I want to be a nurse I know it will be easier to get my RN once I have gotten my LVN and those classes are offered at night but I haven't found an LVn program that offers that. Please Help anyone that can...

Thanks

Sorry, my friend...there aren't any. You would be hard-pressed to find any in the US for that matter. The BON requires a set amount of contact hrs that must be adhered to by the institution as a requirement for approval. In order to sit for the NCLEX, you MUST have graduated from an APPROVED institution. Anyway, logistically, it's a nightmare for staffing and the availability of resources. However, there are online programs; the problem is that they are not approved by the state of Texas. So...you'll have spent lots and lots of cash, but can't sit for the boards in Texas.

Going to nursing school is a commitment and a sacrifice to everyone involved- student, family, employer, etc. If this is something that you want to do, you WILL find a way. :)

I know how hard it is and no there aren't any night classes. I actually had to quit my job and take a leap of faith to do the LVN program. And I also have a husband who was laid off. What I did, I got pell grants and student loans to live off of. Maybe you can get some scholarships also. Also I really wouldn't recommend working while in the program anyways. It's going to be a full time commitment all on its own. I hope this helps, and don't let anything stand in your way. ;)

Do either of you know anything about these evening/hybrid ADN program San Jacinto College is offering?? I hear Aug. 2012 is the next time they are having this available. I want to know at which location Central, North or South???

Thanks for your help!

It's held at the Central campus and has the same criteria as the Traditional/Day program. Because personal info is banned on this site, I can't give out specifics. Contact the Nursing Department for details.
