Hello There All Nurses,

I was wondering if there is anyone out there that can give me some advice. Im a new grad LVN with previous medical assisting experiance. I am also Certified in IV, VENT and wound care. Is there anyone out there that can give me ideas on where to apply and the starting salaries for new grads. Im also currently pursuing my RN in a bridge program, just finishining up a few more pre-reqs and i'll be good to go to apply for an RN program.

I make 52K a year now as an administrator (not related to nursing) and i know i might have to take a pay cut to be able to work as an LVN and I dont mind that becuase nursing is what i love to do, but i just wanted to get an idea of what is out there in the job market for LVN's and what there offering to pay us.

Please help!

Thanks you Everyone.

There are many posts that tell about the shortage of available work for new LVNs and experienced LVNs. LVNs, as well as RNs, leave the state to find work.

LVN wages in southern CA have softened and actually decreased over the past three years due to too many nurses in the local job market. If you are one of the lucky new grads who receives a job offer, it will probably be in the $15 to $21 hourly range.

Then again, LVNs in southern CA were earning in the $15 to $21 per hour range about six or seven years ago. The wages have remained stagnant, and employers have no motivation to increase pay rates to match the cost of living.
