Can someone please let me know of scope of practice changes between and LVN in CA and an LPN in NC. I recently moved and have transferred my license, I'd like to know if there are any major practice changes. I've checked online but I can't find a straight answer

Contact the Board and ask to purchase a copy of the Practice Act. It should only cost $5 or so. Also remember a lot depends on the policies and procedures for individual employers. If you have questions about your practice, you can approach the Board for their interpretation. Preferably do this in writing.

Not sure about CA, but an RN from Texas told me that their LVNs are not allowed to give any IV meds. I've been an LPN for 15 years in NC and have always given IV meds. But my understanding is it depends on where you work, and what meds. Like, I can do certain meds by piggyback, certain meds IV push, no TPN, etc. Check your facilities policies. I have worked in places that would allow me to do some things that other would not. So long as I have completed their competency for it.
