Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago

Published

Hello!

I am about to graduate from nursing school this may and was wondering if anyone knows how competitive it is to get accepted into Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago's RN internship/new grad program? It has been a dream of mine to work there and was curious how many people they accept.

Thanks!

My application still says under review since 10/6/2020 also

mine says under review too still

since 10/05

Just letting you guys know - I was accepted into the November cohort a little over a month ago and my application still says "under review", so I wouldn't necessarily go by that as I'm not sure how accurate it is in terms of if you got accepted/got an interview or not!

Has anyone gotten an offer from CCU yet?

Was just gonna ask that^^^ I haven’t heard from them yet

Have you heard anything back yet?

Yes I did receive an offer yesterday!

Was it a call or an email?

Email! They’re sending them out all week I think.

For those of you reapplying to Lurie's for March or reapplied for the November cohort, have you been looking for other jobs also? I just finished school at the end of July so I was unable to apply for the September cohort and have been having a difficult time finding jobs in the Chicago area as a new grad. Also, does anyone have any tips for cover letters or resumes to stand out? I feel like that is where I fell short.

@NurseM1423 I have had an extremely hard time finding a position as well in the Chicago area/suburbs. I applied to around 150 positions and received so many rejection emails. I finally was able to get an interview  in the hospital and I accepted the position today.

My best advice is to highlight your strengths in the objective section of your resume. If you have a high GPA or honors highlight that and any PCT experience if you have. It is tough especially with COVID19 but keep applying! Something will come up! ?

Thank you so much! That makes me feel SO MUCH better! I have PCT experience on peds/PICU so I have been so frustrated to not hear back from a lot of places. It has definitely been frustrating and I am trying to keep positive about it all. Also, thank you for pointing out the objective in a resume, I did not have that since my school never said to add one so I had no idea. Congrats on the new job!! I am so excited for you and it is well deserved!
