Has anyone ever heard of this being done? A thoracic surgeon wanted to do one on my patient "right here, right now" the other day. I've never seen one and have no idea how invasive it is. Similar procedure to a thoracentisis?

I never see lung biopsy at bedside but I did see thoracentesis and pericardiocentesis at bedside. Normally, lung biopsy done under CT scan guidance, bronchoscopy or during thoracic operation in OT.
Already had bronchoscopy, but they want more, I guess.

Most likely... they will do a bedside bronch.
Bronch was already done. This is in addition to that.

yes, in that you are aspirating tissue instead of fluid.
but it is doable, and reasonable to do at bedside...
with a local anesthetic, of course.

Yes... most likely they will obtain the biopsy via a bedside bronch- bronch the pt and grab some tissue.
