So how are you all meeting this newer guideline for staff competencies. I'm reading the CMS facility assessment tool and the discussion regarding the staff competencies and it's nearly overwhelming to try to figure out how this is ever going to happen. Background - I'm in a pretty small facility (ie: no ADON, no staff development, no unit managers) , in a very rural area and not part of a chain/corporation. We have a contract with Relias inservices and use that for hire orientation and annual inservice mandates. We use a specific orientation checkoff sheet that gets checked off that they know how to do certain tasks, but it's really not broken down step by step that would reflect a true competence in each area.
Resources? Cheat sheets? Ideas?

Following this post. We have Relias too. I'm still trying to figure out how to set it up for new hire orientation. Do you do it as part of a classroom orientation?
