can an lpn provide private duty services to a family or friend and bill medicare for these services, I live in TN and I can't seem to find any info on this subject.

No you cannot bill for family. Friends would be questionable.

Family that provides care is usually under some kind of personal preference program by the state.

Private duty care is not covered by Medicare and is typically paid for by the client. Skilled Nursing by LPN is covered only under the Home Health Benefit by Medicare certified agency, requires RN to develop plan of care under physician orders.


New for 2019, Non-skilled in-home care services will be allowed as a supplemental benefit for Medicare Advantage (MA) plans.
