LPN Student in NJ

Published

I am a new student in the LPN Program in NJ. It is something that I have always wanted to do so you can basically say I am following my dream. I have been out of school for 20+ years and am having a really tough time with consuming all of the information. Does anyone have any advice on what works for them? Especially with test taking. I'd really appreciate any information because I do not want to fail! Thank you!

Hi! what kind of test are you taking? Are you taking the LPN exam to get in school?

No, I am in school already. It runs September through July. I am taking tests in class, two times a day, and I am barely passing them. I even failed one. I am having trouble retaining the information from the chapters that the test are on.

I have the same issue going on. Tomorrow is a two chapter test and I been reading all weekend and I don't feel like I retained any thing. May I ask where you go to school at? I am in a vocational in south jersey.

Ahhh...PN school...the only place where you can have daily tests. :wacky:

Since you already started; you can most likely taking A&P and Fundamentals, correct?

I will say generally, there is so much information being presented that one of the best ways to study the chapters of your reading material is to outline the objective of the chapter, highlight the tables and the diagrams; also during lecture, be sure to take notes on what pages are emphasized; if anything, there will be questions related to that subject on the test.

If you are still doing A&P, there are plenty of threads on here that you can find study tools for A&P...use the search feature; I'm don't have tips to study A&P because when I went to PN school, I had already had the college level courses completed; and I audited it (didn't have to take he course). I will suggest "A & P Made Incredibly Easy" as a resource to your course material. I suggest for fundamentals to try the "Success Series" books for studying questions, to prepare for the exam.

I hope I helped in any way...PN school is the BOOT camp of nursing school, IMHO...you will be amazed how MUCH you know after you complete the program! ;)
