LPN Scope of Practice & IV Certification

Does anyone have a link to the scope of practice of an LPN in Florida. Also has anyone taken the online course from Orange County Public Schools for IV certification? The website says it is registered with the state, however I could not find any information on the FDOH site regarding IV certification. It's kind of a confusing site and I had a lot of trouble getting around it to get any information. I've just moved recently to Florida and just want to brush up on scope and also get IV cert.

Thank

Pam

I had a hard time also & finally went on google & found several schools that will offer the course. First I checked with Broward Cty vocational schools and they led me to the proper site. I found Nursing unlimited offers the course. I can't see how this could be done on line

I went to Orlando tech for my LPN, which is thru Orange Co. Public Schools, so that's how I knew about the IV certification. I took the class shortly after graduation. They told us that it is the only program that is recognized in any state, meaning other programs offered elsewhere would not be recognized outside the state you currently live in.

What annoyed me was that I never used the certification because any place I worked didn't allow LPNs to start IVs anyway. I never even learned how to start a real one until I got my RN. It did benefit me in that it was required for admission to the LPN-RN bridge program I took, so at least I already had it done.

How would you practice if you did on line IV cret? I took the class right after LPN program and we had to practice on each other.

I received a lab kit today with a "practice" arm and an iv setup. I practice with those, then I will also have clinicals in Orlando that I go to.

We used the arm also, but we had to show some blood return before we could draw blood or start an IV.

that is what we will do when we meet in Orlando, we actually have to stick and show return
