LPN-RN One Day/Week Bridge program in GA?

Updated:   Published

ABAC in Tifton has an LPN to RN fast-track transition program where once you're into nursing classes you meet only one killer day/week from 8AM to 11PM for one year. Does anyone know of other LPN-RN transition programs in Georgia with this option? Anyone been through a program like this? Thanks!

would be interested in finding a program like that in dayton ohio ?

I graduated from ABAC's traditional RN program, and had some interaction with the bridge students. It is a tough program- but good quality. There are stiff rules at ABAC and a required pharmacology test each semester. You have class in the morning and clinicals each afternoon (usually at Tift Regional medical center in Tifton). The instructors at ABAC are usually really helpful and will probably be very honest with you if you call them. We had students driving from as far away as Daytona Beach, FL. Check out the abac website if you haven't already.

Thanks for the info! I did apply for summer semester. I've only heard good things about ABAC and their nursing program. Particularly that their faculty seems to care. I heard the opposite about some other places where I applied. My LPN program also had a pharm test every quarter that determined if you would advance in clinicals. Lots of people thought it was unfair but I guess it's as much about performance under pressure as it is about drug cal!

Have you heard of any other programs like this in GA. I am very interested in this. Finding a program the is condusive to working people. I must still work full time while trying to get my RN. I am currently a LPN and have been working for 13 yrs. I live in Dallas, GA and do think driving 3hrs would be worth it for one day a week, but would love to find something closer.

I haven't heard of another school in Georgia with the one-day option. Darton In Albany has this option for Paramedic-to-RN and their web site says they are reworking their LPN-RN program. That would be even more driving for you though. Good luck and please post again if you find another program.

Hello, I was browing ABAC's website. I am loooking to apply there. I plan to being my science pre reqs in the summer.

Was it hard to get admitted?

Not hard to get into ABAC but possibly tough to get into the one-day program. I just got my notice that I wasn't accepted for it (I have 3 pre-reqs left to take) but I was accepted for the regular program Fall semester. Good luck!

Does anyone else know of any good schools to go to for the LPN-RN program or even generic in the Atlanta area. I was looking into Georgia Perimeter and heard some pretty bad review. Can someone give me any insite on any other schools.

I will have my LPN by June, what pre-req's do you need to go to ABAC one day program? And do they only start it in the summer? "Oh how easy it is to bridge..." everyone told me! NOT!

Thanks!

I think it's A&P I & II and Microbiology that are required. The one-day does only start in Summer at ABAC. Darton College in Albany now offers their one-day to LPNs also (under Healthcare Professional-to-RN program tab on their web site). Looks like the same pre-reqs plus one year exper. as LPN. "So easy to bridge" -yeah right! Amen to that. I keep running into: the nursing department wants to advise all the nursing/pre-nursing students but they don't want to acknowledge that you exist until you're accepted into nursing but they won't look at you for nursing until you finish your core - GRRRRRRRR!!! who the heck is supposed to advise me about pre-reqs?????!!!!!!!
