UOIT bridging program.

Students LPN-RN

Published

Hi ☺️

Im wondering if anyone has experience with bridging from RPN to RN at UOIT or any other University. I am aware that this program is heavy and consuming. However, I'm wondering more specifics if possible. I'm sure course loads change, but I would just like to get an idea of how it will be (classes per week, practicum hours per week). I start at UOIT in September and I have a young daughter and I also work part time as a RPN and will need to continue throughout school. I was just wondering how feasible it was for others to go to school full time, work part time all while having a family raise. Thanks in advance :)

Following, as I'm going to UOIT this September to bridge to RN. I would like to know about workload, schedules, etc.

I can't speak on the bridging program but I am in the program direct from high school and there are some bridging students in my nursing courses. I'm not sure what the bridging course calendar looks like pertaining to electives but the program is very exhaustive in general. Even more so than other programs at other schools. I have a few friends who went to Ryerson and they say UOIT is much harder. UOIT is a good school because there is only 120 students accepted unlike york and ryerson that has hundreds of students, so the teachers know your name and see you on a daily basis. It would be very difficult to do part-time work ... especially as a RPN that takes a lot of mental focus. In second semester we have clinicals and there is a lot to do for clinicals, reflections, reports ... every clinical week and that doesn't include the actual course work for the clinical placement, it's just "practicum" work. I know one adult in the program who has kids and doesn't work at all due to osap coverage and i'm not sure if she gets any more money but she complains about it still and she's isn't working

Hi amandakiara1

I just finished my Practical Nursing school and hopefully I'll be able to bridge to RN by next year. I'm hoping to get in at UOIT. Would you be able to tell me about your experience with the university, how the nursing courses are, the facility, etc. I was also wondering what your average was from PN school? Your help is much appreciated!
