MDC vs Barry vs Mercy help! LPN at MDC trying to get a BSN

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Hi! I'm a very unhappy MDC LPN student. I'm going to finish this awful program in October hopefully (we'll see if they lie about that too) and continue into an RN bridge program. MDC has lied to my peers and myself countless times over the entire course of this program first telling us we'd be done in August, now October. That we would have priority into the next program if we applied on time (that's out the window). That we would have a definite schedule. It's been so bad that I rarely know when my next ATI exam is. The people running this program are rude and just don't seem to give a rat's ass about any of their potential future students (money bags). Well done MDC, way to go on making yourselves a better program.

So back to the point fellow nursing comrades, here are my options and I hope you can fill me in on the pros and cons as well as anything that could possibly help me make the right decision.

Option 1: Get into the RN bridge and STAY at MDC

Option 2: Go to Barry and hopefully get into their LPN-BSN program (debt is inevitable)

Option 3: Go to MERCY Hospital and do their LPN-RN program

Is anyone in any of those programs? Are they satisfied with them? Are they organized? Likes dislikes? What do I need to make sure I get in? Are there any hidden secrets I need to know when I'm applying to either Barry or Mercy? Scholarships I can apply for?

Hints and tips are most welcome. A sense of security and hope is well needed.

Thanks!

I know nothing about MDC, but I do know to avoid any for profit nursing programs. Do your own research about what schools have good reputations and which are for profit which often leave students in a lot of debt and have low graduation rates (source is Time magazine).

Best to you,

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I just started the program, this fall, and we are already having problems. I HATE IT already. Our Prof, clinicals instructor, and the program are all on a different page. No one knows whats going on and the dept. is not telling anyone a thing. They have our whole schedule wrong...they told us to disregard our schedule but nothing has been changed. U check ur schedule and it has the sam crap as the one they told us to disregard. And one thing I absolutely love bout MDC is that there is not one person that is helpful. They are all the same and they all just feed the students crap. I've been in the program for less than a month and Im already frustrated and I dont even want to go back.

I personally think u are better off going to another school for LPN to RN. DONT GO TO DADE!!!!!! Save ur self the trouble and headache. I know I am. When Im done with the program, hopefully without anymore problems(which I highly doubt)---one can always expected the worst from dade-- I am not going to their brigde program. Im already look for LPN-RN program else where.

PS----I do hope my group is done with the program in july like they told us. I've heard from another classmate of mine that her sis class was also lied to bout when they would be done and they actually completed it in oct.

Mercy is NOT nationally accredited. They are only accredited by the state of Fl to allow you to sit for the nclex...DONT do it if you want a real COLLEGE degree!! Choose MDC or Barry. If money is an issue to you I say MDC...Barry is more expensive (debt is slavery)..Im an Lpn too and I got into both schools and it's MDC all the way for me. Just keep perservering!
