LVN to RN in Southern California

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Basically, I'm lost and need a little help/guidance.

I have been a LVN for 6 years. I am desperately seeking to go back to school but cannot afford west coast. I'm in the process of finishing up all my Science pre req's as mine are all past 5 years. My job really needs me to get my RN to fill a upper management position that will be available shortly, and I want to further my education too.

Currently it feels like its just about impossible to do that though. Santa Ana is a 5 year wait lost, saddleback is 4, cypress about 3-4, GoldenWest even longer. West coast is 100k bucks and I wouldn't be able to keep my job as well due to the class times.. My kids are in CA and I don't plan on leaving so even a 30 unit option would work for me, but I can't find one. I don't really know what to do at this point.

Are there any programs in OC,IE,LA that are not insanely priced and are available in a less than a year waiting list. If I didn't have kids I would just go to school out of state for a year but I can't do that...

Any advice?

The diagnostic test at Cerritos is the teas right?

Does anybody know where I can find a listing of 30 unit programs available in So Cal? I've searched and Havnt come up with too many besides Santa Ana (huge wait list) Citrus college (available fall 2014) Possibly Azuza Pacific University Mira costa CC... *specifically OC/IE/LA area*

Have you tried Concordia in Irvine? They offer a 30 unit option.

Have you looked into College of the Canyons in Valencia? I read on here somewhere that they didn't have enough qualified applicants for the bridge program (last spring, I think) so they didn't offer the bridge program. Also, they do have a 30 unit option (at least, that's what their website says). I don't know where you are located but COC is my first choice for when I'm ready to bridge over.

Do you know the requirements?

I know it has been so many years since you posted this comment, yet I was wondering if you knew by any chance what where the requirements in testing for the skills test and the second test to get into the LVN to RN program at cypress college ?

I'm I the same boat as the lady from the last post. Can you please share those in's and outs with me as well... Thank you in advance any info is greatly appreciated.
