Galen 2013 LPN to RN

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hello,

I plan on going to Galen's RN program in April, but I'd like some advice from any former students. I have some confusion on the accreditation, during the tour we were told that it was accredited but since then I've read online and was told by someone that it is not accredited? I've sent an email to my advisor hoping he could explain this to me, but I was just interested in knowing any info or advise from former Galen graduates. Did you have any trouble getting employed due to attending Galen? Were you able to transfer credits to another school in order to further your education? Thank you for any info.

I do not attend Galen but thinking about transferring schools ( I attend another RN school).

Galen is not NLNAC accredited-however, they are SACS accredited and have atriculation agreements with a few schools (this means these schools will accept Galen credits to further your education )-the schools I know are: Grand Canyon University (online to BSN, NLNAC accredited). Indiana Westlyn ( I think I spelled it correctly-online BSN, NLNAC accredited). U. Of Phx. I also believe Spalding University and Excelsior will accept Galen credits but I'm not sure as no one from Excelsior will call me back.

Im attending my first week at Galen. I Love it. The staff is awesome and all said they would help extra, they have free tudors, my lab teacher even gave the entire class her personal phone number for any extra help and questions. They bend over backwards to make sure you have the tools to succeed. The equipment is new and state of the art. Free wifi at school, skydrive and Microsoft office for yr laptop. Several of the instructors attended Galen 10 plus years ago, went off to hospitals, acquired higher education and have come full circle and are back teaching new nurses. They do have articulation agreements with fully accredited universities. Get yr RN and tranfer to university and bsn is online. Its double the price of a public school but I think it will be worth every penny and future nurses will get a great education.
