Bad news, no money

Just found out I am de-registered for my pre-reqs as I can only take 4 credits due to work and I cannot get funding unless I take at least 6 credits. Not sure what other options may be available. I am working as an LPN but wanted to get my RN for the extra money and more job potential. Plus I'm no spring chicken, I'm 53 and already have a BA in education, was thinking I could teach nursing once floor nursing gets too physically hard. Now, I don't know. Not so bad staying an LPN, I like my job, but really wanted to advance and at least keep my mind fresh. Any suggestions? I can't seem to think past this set-back. :(

It is true that a requirement of receiving financial aid is being registered as a degree-seeking student at least part-time (6 credit hours). Do you choose to take 4 credit hours because you feel as though you are unable to handle more? I am also not sure why you would be dropped from your pre-req courses unless payment was due and there weren’t any notes under your account that you were applying for financial aid. How many pre-req courses did you originally sign up for? Can you take two courses? For example can you take two 3-credit hour or one 4-credit hour and one 3-credit hour course? If so, then you will meet the requirements of receiving financial aid.

Take an easy course. Please do not give up your scholarship/grants for work. This is a great opportunity and you should go for it ! Don't give up. Staying a LPN is not bad however it is bad if you have your heart on becoming a RN.

Good thoughts. thanks for the replies. I think I will just have to save up the money to go one class at a time even though it will take forever! I took algebra over the summer and worked full time and I was just so beat. I get up at 5AM to work 7-4 and to go to class from 6-9, I get home by 930, bed asap, it's a lot for me. Still considering. The online thing might work though...thanks! :)
