Thanks Sadie

Hello. I know that OCC (Oakland Community College) has a bridge program from LPN to RN. They call it TPN (Transitional Practical Nurse). Here are a few links to the info.

There is quite a few schools that have the bridge program. There are the ones people have already mentioned above, plus there is also LCC, SC4, I think HFCC, there is one close to flint I can't think of the name of it right now. Madonna University has a LPN-BSN program. Type in Michigan Colleges in google and there is a website that lists all colleges and you can go to each website and see who has it. Oh, and Baker College Auburn Hills is suppose to be starting a bridge program next year. (I just finished their LPN program so that is why I know this)
Good luck...I'm going to be doing the same thing soon. :)

Anyone hear anything good or bad about the OCC (Oakland Community College) bridge program from LPN to RN?

I want to do the OCC LPN-RN bridge too and would love some to hear from someone who has been in the program. I looked it up online and they just dont answer all my questions. I thought that they only offered it every other year and I want to know what years they are so I can plan ahead. I also am not sure how long it takes to go thru the program. I think the LPN at OCC takes about 16 months because there are breaks. Also, I would like to know what the accepted GPA was for the last round. Thanks to anyone who can answer my questions.
OCC has 2 LPN to RN bridge programs. One is if you received your LPN thru OCC and one is if you got it somewhere else but have worked as an LPN for a while. I just got my LPN certificate at OCC this past spring and plan to apply for their 2012 program which is only offered every 2 years in the even years. It goes from Jan-Dec of the same year and I believe the application deadline is October of the previous year so in my case Oct 2011. One of my LPN instructors informed us that everyone is accepted into the program as long as you have taken all the pre-requisites and passed. I don't know anything about the other program (TPN). Hope that helps. It is best to talk to a counselor or go to one of their information sessions. I don't think the website gives you too much info.
Thanks Dwern, that gives me a better idea of how soon I need to get the rest of my pre-reqs in by. I wish I could take a class in the fall but I really need to find a job to pay some of my bills off right now. Ill probably start looking next week after my kids start school.
