hi guys!! i thought that LPN to RN programs meant that u had to already be an LPN who now wants to get a BSN or ADN is that right???? or is it for anyone who isn't any type of healthcare worker? are they as competitive as traditional BSN and ADN programs?? I live in queens, nyc and im going to Hunter college......i really want to pursue nursing but im not sure how to go about it.....ive already taken all the pre-reqs and did pretty good in them. but overall gpa is still low.....any advice???

You do have to be an LPN already to be able to enter into an LPN to BSN course. I live in New York, also, so I am aware of Hunter College. LaGuardia Community College has an LPN to RN Bridge Program for the Associate's Degree, but even for entering the LPN program, I am hearing now that they require an exceptionally high GPA, and there are limited seats (20, I believe). Good luck!

Hey,
it will be hard to get into a nursing program with a low grade. whether you live in new york or elsewhere nursing courses will always be competitive. however, since you live in new york, i know that bmcc will let you drop/repeat your lowest grades and start fresh on the very first semester you transfer there. just make sure that you transfer the good grades and to drop anything below a B+. In addition, the preclinical professors are very easy. get to know your classmates and lets you know more about the good, easy ones to take to get that A. Good luck. hope that helps!
you may wanna check on their website.
