Published

Just thought I'd start another roll call...

I already got my immunizations,

testing, acceptance, criminal checks,

etc....

anyone entering in Jan 2011?

where?

I'll be in PA

have to purchase and do my dosage chapters!

I am starting at Parkland college in Champaign IL on Jan 2010 :) I am so excited to start :) I ordered all my books on Amazon.com with a total price of about 500 less than buying at the college book store! I also will rent some! Cant wait to start reading although I know when the semester starts I will be so stressed out hehe! My husband is in the Air Force and currently serving in afghanistan so when we move I will finish nursing by bridging over into the RN program!

Specializes in Pediatrics, OB/GYN, ER, Geriatrics.

Mizzmean,

I did the same thing as you...ordered my books on Amazon and Half.com and saved soooo much money! My school wanted $900 for the books and I told them "No Thank You" lol. That is a little to much to spend when you can get the same books for a lot less.

BTW, I will keep your husband in my prayers. I am so thankful my husband is no longer in the military (active). He served in the Gulf War as a medic in the Coast Gaurd and I was so stressed out whenever I heard that a US solider was killed hoping it was not my husband.

Take care and best of luck to you in school.:)

I start in January at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Ms. I'm so excited! I currently work as a unit coordinator full time but all that will change once I start school. I'll just work the weekends. Congratulations to everyone and I pray that we all do excellent in our classes! We are RN bound!!! :yeah::up:

Thanks so much!! I get to talk to him almost everyday...he is the one who processes the awards after someone passes away...he has done alot considering he just got there OCT 1st! They are sending him soon to a dangerous (one that gets attacked alot) base to do some audits! Yikes!! But I know who is control :)

Yep I will not pay full price for my textbooks no way! :) Im glad they are using the same ones from the fall semester instead of cycling new ones in. My college has a habit of making special "bundles" that you can only get from this college..with extra workbooks etc...argh!! Thank God I dont have them for this semester!

I would like to add myself to that list! Yay! I start at Weatherford!

I am starting at St. Clair Community College in January. I, too, am very excited and looking forward to beginning the program. Good luck to everyone!

Starting mine in Jan at Daytona State/UCF. Taking online coursework, and clinicals in Deland on the evening shift. So excited!

Need to get cracking on the doc visit and background check though! Eeeeeep!

I am starting at OCC in Southfield, MI in January. Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the roll call!!! :)

Yes, let's please stay in touch with one another through out our school year.

I will now get the list of books and attempt to buy them on my own as the school wants $700.

Thanks for the first great piece of advice!

Let's hope we can keep helping one another....

I also want to do the RN program.

I was at a community college in NJ, before moving to PA and applying for the LPN program here....(in NJ the LPN and RN clincals both had a 2 year wait)

The community college turned a 2 year associate degree program into a 4 year program by forcing you to take A&P I&II and then Microbiology (and other pre-courses) before ANY nursing courses.THen with the 2 year wait....it was a SIX year program. I came in with most of the necessary electives.

Scares me a bit how many people ARE becoming nurses, causing the LONG waits...what will happen when everyone graduates.

So, I think doing the LPN and getting employed quicker can't hurt :)

Good luck to all of us...

enjoy your holidays

as after we BEGIN!!! our YEAR journey to nursehood!!!

ps. I NOW need a hysterectomy...hoping I heal in time for school.

Anyone know when the actual clinicals start?

I have my uniform try-on Monday. and Then our orientation isn't until Dec 21.

good luck

You poor baby...you should heal in time. I had mine in December 2008 and was healed up in about 8 weeks. So, if you have the surgery soon, you should be okay for when school starts. My doc told me to give it 6 -8 weeks to heal.

i am a new student in the lpn program @ rsht in richmond va

i am currently a cna and going for my lpn then rn im so excited
