Hi Forum,

Just recently failed my NCLEX-PN again for the 2nd time and I dont know why I keep failing them, I thought I did good on the second time but the results shows I did worst than the first time. Many said dont give up but I am having fears now of taking it again, can anyone advise on which review or books I should concentrate on, it seems I got a lot of priority and delegation questions but I cant find those reviews on any book, is there any good live review course in CA, or any online that I should try? I feel bad that I think I am the only one left in my class who has not pass the boards since I graduated in 09/04. I am losing confidence and telling myself that maybe nursing is not for me. Any help or advise is appreciated, thanks.

I don't have any advice for you about the specifics you asked, but just wanted to say I'm sorry and it must be a little deflating with all the hard work getting through school. Hang in there and know that this message board is definately the place to rally!!!! Third time's a charm, as they say!!!! Best of luck to you!!!!!! Dawn

Thanks Dawn, appreciate your concern and encouragement.

Hello, I have just recently passed my boards back in February. I know it really really sucks to fail your boards because I graduated from PN school back in July and took my boards for the first time and failed it in Sept of 04. I was so depressed. The worst thing about failing boards is the pressure you have on yourself to pass it the next time. Don't worry (like it's easy not to) and just tell yourself that you will pass it. What I did to pass boards my second time is that I ordered a study course called the LPN Review Course. It comes from a company called Educational Resources, Inc. They give you some discs to listen to and a Assess Test to take. The thing that helped me the most was that Assess Test because the questions are so much like the ones on boards. I just kept going over it over and over again until I knew all the answers. The only downfall about this course is that it costs lots of $$. If your interested there is a toll free #(1-800-292-2273) and just tell them that you failed your PN boards and you want the LPN Review Course. This course does go over priority and delegation questions. I got many of those types of questions on my boards to. Just remember your ABCs (airway, breathing, and circulation. That should help. Just have a positive attitude about it, I know it's hard to because you feel like you are never gonna pass it, but just study the material over and over again and you should be just fine. Let me tell you if I can pass boards anyone can. Well I hope this helps.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Hi John,

Thanks for the encouragement, I will check on that number you gave for the LPN review course. You are right, now Im beginning to always think that I will fail it again because I failed it twice already. Are you in LA Calif? Does it matter where you took the tests? Im not sure how could that be possible when I thought I did good the second time but it shows I did even worst than the first time I took it, I studied more on the 2nd time and fails sadly. Did you just concentrate on the LPN review assess course the 2nd time around or you use other books? Thanks again.

So sorry you didn't pass your boards. I can only imagine how you must feel. After I graduated I attended the Hurst Review. It was a live review but i do know they offer a video and online review. It gives you a refresher on all the basics. Now let me say I graduated in Dec. 04, took the review a week after graduating and didn't take my test until May 5, this year. The thing that helped me the most was reading over what we went over the 4 days of the Review and then the day before my test I watched the video Marlene gave us explaning in detail the mock NCLEX test we rec. It helped me the most I do believe. I passed the first time and my test stopped at 85 questions. If you want to contact them this is the web address. Good luck and don't let it get you down.

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for your reply, I heard about Hurst review, do you know if it's better for me to attend the live review or just do the online one. Nowadays I feel like losing hope studying again, just the thought of me failing it again the third time scares me bad, Im just worried that after all what I've gone through at the school I will just waste everything, I always ask myself, how if I fail it again. Thanks again and take care.

Hi,

I'd suggest the live review if you can afford it and if it's offered in your area. I just am the type of person that learns through lecture. They give you the booklet and go through each and every section to help you learn the basic's you need to know to help you pass. They also give you a video and CD to print out things you need to go over for delegation and the mock test. Then you watch the video and Marlene goes through each and every question explaining why you should or shouldn't choose the answer. It helped me a lot. I remembered what she said on that video about how to answer certain questions and when I was sitting in the chair taking my test it came back to me on a question I had no idea about. It's just up to you on what you can afford or what you prefer but I highly recommend the live review. It's a lot of fun too. :D Good luck.
